No Sickness or Disease Before the Fall of Adam and Eve

Before the fall of Adam and Eve, there was no sickness, disease, mental illness, death, etc.  In fact Adam and Eve had a God conscience and the devil could not communicate with them in spirit.  That is why Satan showed up in a physical body of a snake to talk to Eve.  After the fall, Adam and Eve had a self-conscious.

Gen 1:26Gen 1:26
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

WP-Bible plugin
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.’” God  created us on the sixth day of creation. He created us in his image, giving us dominion of this whole planet.

After the fall, the curse came upon them.  What did that mean.  It meant that their bodies would not live forever and that they would have to face death, sickness and disease. Until the millenium, we will have different bodies that don’t die.

Gen 2:16–17Gen 2:16–17
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: thou…: Heb. eating thou shalt eat 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. thou shalt surely…: Heb. dying thou shalt die

“And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free  to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.’” Here  is the first indication of possible sickness and death: disobedience: “you will surely die.”

, you will notice a whole list of curses to those who sin. Among them are: diseases, plagues, fever, inflammation, severe burning fever, scorching, boils, tumors, scabs…. It is clear here that God does not consider sickness as a blessing,  but rather a curse.

When the curse of death came upon man, Satan entered the genetic system of the body to
begin his destructive mission. He came to kill, steal and destroy you.  The Bible confirms that Satan is the source of evil in the
world. Our sin opens the door for Satan to attack us. Jesus said he is a thief and …

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…
(John 10:10John 10:10
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Sickness destroys the body like sin destroys the spirit. Disease steals health, happiness,
money, time, effort, and strength. It truly kills and destroys. Even “accidents” that harm
the body are destroying agents of Satan. Because the source of sickness is Satan, you
must resist it just as you do temptation and sin. When you resist temptation and sin you
are doing spiritual warfare against Satan’s attacks on your soul and spirit. When you
resist sickness you are waging spiritual warfare against his attacks on your physical body.

Jesus Redeemed Us From The Curse of Death, Sickness and Disease

The good news though is that Jesus died in our place and redeemed us from the curse… Gal 3:13–14Gal 3:13–14
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

WP-Bible plugin
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’ He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

Through Jesus Christ, the Lord have us authority to cast out demons and heal the sick.

The demonic world of spirit are disembodied spirits—that is, they once had bodies but lost them. This explains why they hunt for bodies. They crave bodies to inhabit.

Then, the New Testament gives us more clarification of this fact. Jesus himself referred to disease as satanic bondage (Luke 13:16Luke 13:16
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

). We know that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit to remove such bondage (Luke 4:18Luke 4:18
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

). We know that Jesus identified a demonic spirit in connection with a case of physical disease (Luke 13:11Luke 13:11
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

).

Other biblical references of Sickness and Disease:

In this verse, serpents and scorpions refer to demonic spirits. The phrase, “all the power of the enemy” is much broader and would include illness. This is very clear when all of chapter 10 is read in context, but even if it had not been so clear, we could come to the same conclusion based on Acts 10:38Acts 10:38
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

.

How did Jesus bring healing to this woman? He rebuked the fever, just as he rebuked the spirit a few verses earlier. This is further evidence of the satanic origin of sickness and disease.

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1, 2Luke 9:1, 2
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

9 1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

).

We know God created everything, but keep in mind that sin is not a creation, sickness is not a creation, and death is not a creation. These things only exist in the absence of the intended order of creation; they are perversions of the original intention of God. Nevertheless, many will site Isaiah 45:7Isaiah 45:7
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

WP-Bible plugin
to argue the point that even evil is the creation of God.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

So, we see that sickness and disease is a result of generational sins of the forefathers, from Adam and Eve, and from personal sins.

Further, every disease comes from a germ of life. Just as your spirit gives life to the body, Satan provides the destructive elements of sickness. In the natural world, God takes a living cell and multiplies it to bring forth life and a new child is born. Satan counterfeits this positive process with a negative cycle of his own. He takes a living cell (virus, cancer,
etc.) and multiplies it to bring forth death. This is the “spirit of infirmity” which works in your body when you are sick. When the spirit of infirmity is cast out, disease in your body dies. As long as that germ exists in the body, the disease lives and continues its destructive work.

How Does God View Sickness

If you understand how God views sickness you will never again doubt its source. God calls sickness captivity:
And the Lord turned the captivity of Job… (Job 42:10Job 42:10
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. gave…: Heb. added all that had been to Job unto the double

)

Jesus came to preach deliverance to the captives:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at
liberty them that are bruised. (Luke 4:18Luke 4:18

Jesus called sickness bondage:

And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

(Luke 13:16Luke 13:16
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

WP-Bible plugin
)

Jesus came to set people free with the truth:

And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

(John 8:32John 8:32
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

WP-Bible plugin

The truth is that Jesus viewed sickness as oppression and healed those who were oppressed:

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the Devil; for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38Acts 10:38
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The Bible identifies death as an enemy:

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. (I Corinthians 15:26)

Sickness is called loathsome:

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease; and there is no soundness in my flesh. (Psalms 38:7Psalms 38:7
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

It is also viewed as evil:

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him… (Psalms 41:8Psalms 41:8
English: King James Version (1611) — KJV

8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. An…: Heb. A thing of Belial

) There are verses in the Bible which indicates God sent a plague or sickness. While God is not the originator of such ills, He sometimes uses them to accomplish His purposes in executing judgment upon the enemy.
