Armor Up Against Fear of Rejection or Withdraw!
Newsletter dated 7/10/2012
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (Isaiah 61:1 NKJV)
The most common cause of a wounded spirit or a broken heart is rejection. Rejection deeply wounds a person like a knife in the heart which is painful emotional pain. The word rejection is defined as being cast off, pushed away, refused or unwanted by another person. In Psalm 55 we can observe that King David experienced some hurt and rejection from someone close to him.
Fear of Rejection – Overcome Rejection
Rejection comes to us through those who are closest to us such as family (mother, father siblings) or friends, husband or wife such as divorce. Satan does not play fair and takes advantage of those painful experiences by magnifying them to your heart and mind, pressuring you to believe its reflection of your identity and your worth.
Satan is a liar – dealing with rejection – Overcome Rejecstion
Satan is a liar and the father of lies in John 8:44. One strategy is recognize the lying spirit uses against people is to whisper the lie of rejection to the mind and heart. The devil knows the pain and the bondage that a spirit of rejection can bring into a person’s life if his lie is accepted as truth. The lie of rejection says: You are a ˜reject” and the evidence to prove it can be found in your memories of painful treatment by others. But the sinful actions of others toward you does not prove you are a reject, it just proves that people are sinners.
God’s Word tells you the truth: you are not rejected and you are not a reject even if a multitude of circumstances in your life seem to shout that it is true! The real truth about each of us is found in God’s Word:
He made us accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6)
God lovingly created you and designed you for a specific purpose in life. You are perfectly accepted and desired by God even if the human beings you have encountered have not treated you that way.
My question to you is who is defining you? God’s Word as truth or people such as your parents, friends, husbands, children, etc.
God’s Word is eternal and God is ultimately your creator, husband and father. People’s words are not eternal and are not of truth. It is the enemy who uses the people around you to make you feel rejected when the reality you are not. When people reject you, they are rejecting the spirit of the Lord in you.
1 Samuel 7:8 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
In the words they have not rejected you, we sense God comforting Samuel. It is as if God is saying Samuel, don’t take it personally.
Israel wanted a king. The reason Israel wanted a king was wrong. Like all the nations. We often get into trouble by wanting to be like the world, when we should instead be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1-2).
Jesus was rejected and sent on the cross. What did he say? He said, forgive them for they do not know what they do.
It is not them, those who reject you, but a spirit working in them.
Thank you for taking the time to read How to Overcome Rejection and receive peace.
