Cigarette smoking addiction have more than 4,000 individual compounds and more than 60 of these compounds that are known as carcinogens (cancer-causing agents). Every time you light up a cigarette, you are inhaling cancer-causing agents into your lungs.
Cigarette Smoking Addiction Abuses the Body
If you are a child of God, that means you are abusing the temple of the Holy Spirit. Can you see how that opens the door to a spirit of death? Along with 60 compounds, many of these substances have carbon monoxide, tar, arsenic and lead that are poisonous and toxic to the human body. You are poisoning your entire body even your skin which is the largest organ in or on your body.
We can further see in 1 Corinthians 3:17, when we behave or perform irresponsibly and defile our body we open ourselves to our physical destruction.
Cigarette Smoking Addiction to Nicotine is a Drug
Nicotine is a DRUG that naturally present in the tobacco plant and primarily responsible for addiction to cigarettes. During smoking, nicotine is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream and travels to the brain in a matter of seconds. In fact, smoking harms almost every major organ of the body.
Cigarette Smoking Addiction Kills
Every year 350,000 Americans die prematurely from diseases caused by cigarettes, COPD, Lung Cancer, Emphasema, chronic bronchitis, and coronary heart disease and strokes. With smokers, lung cancer is the number one cause in both men and women. Only 12-15% survive lung cancer. Lung cancer is a silent killer and when problems arise from complications from lung cancer, it is usually to late. Did you know over 90% of lung cancers are preventable? Smoking is a major risk factor for peripheral vascular disease. The blood vessels narrow carrying blood to the leg and arm muscles. So blood clot blocks the narrowed artery causing death or lose of a limb.
Nicotine Addiction Spiritual Root
Bottom line, nicotine cigarette smoking addiction spiritual root is the need to be loved! The need to be loved is built within the creation of God to us. Those who have addictions was usually not nurtured properly by someone important in your life – possibly your parents. You may have had parents, but they did not know how to hold you or say “I love you”. Are you still trying to find someone say “I love you?” The enemy comes in and says that God does not love you, but that is a lie from the pit of hell. Because of the addiction, it is hard to love yourself or accept that the Father truly still loves you. Are you not loved by those around you? Did you know that lie causes yourself needing a “fix” to fill that void!
Some say the problem is not being breast fed and so smoking that cigarette replaces the need for a breast for comfort. Smoking cigarettes, because of stress, is a false pathway to peace. Our only peace come from God. God through Jesus Christ can fill the gap that no man or woman can fulfill in your life.
Cigarette Smoking Addiction from Satan
Satan and the unclean spirits (demons) know they have spiritual “legal right or ground” to successfully attack and harm (steal, kill, destroy) the smoking believer! Spiritually speaking (the way God sees it) cigarette smoking is “burning incense to other (demon) gods”. II Kings 22:17, II Kings 23:5; II Chronicles 28:25, 34:24, 34:25; Jeremiah 1:16, 7:9, 11:12, 19:4; Chapter 44, 48:35.
Spiritual Roots of Addiction
Ask God to fill the void in your life and ask Him to help you understand just how much you are loved by the Father who sent His son to die for you. Today, right now, ask the Lord to fill that void with something, ask God to help you be complete in Him, just as you are in His unconditional, never-fading love and defeat addictions!

“Dear Father, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I have sinned against you in smoking tobacco. I confess my sin in offering incense to demons and in worshipping false gods. I have polluted my body, Your Holy Temple, and placed myself under the curse of destruction. I have believed Satan’s lies and have taken a false pathway to peace in dealing with stress. I have listened to false spirits of addiction. I have also harmed others who have been forced to smoke in my presence. I repent for the spirit of addiction, mindset of addiction, defiling the temple of God, false pathway to peace, and opening the door to death and destruction. Forgive me of my sins, Father in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareath.
Your Word tells me through Jesus your Son I can do all things and that means giving up cigarette smoking through faith in His Name and in the power of the blood of His atonement, I am free from Satan’s bondage. Lord, for years I have been in bondage to cigarettes, nicotine and smoking, doing harm to my body – Your Temple – and making it a habitation of demons. I place this bad habit and addiction on your altar – I nail it to the cross. In the Name of the Messiah (Jesus Christ), I command you, spirit of addiction and bad habit, mindset of addiction, need for love, to depart from me and enter me no more. I will not take up eating as a substitute; therefore I will not gain weight, for I am completely free of this bondage to addiction.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I break the curse of burning incense to other gods that I may have inherited from my ancestors especially addictions, by the power of His blood, dissolving all ungodly ties and influences that may have come through them and especially in connection with smoking and nicotine addiction. I break the curse of self-destruction and command all demons associated with these things to depart in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and by the power of His blood, and forbid them to return.
I cast out any spirits of infirmity, sickness and disease and break the spirit of destruction caused by smoking and ask you to restore my body fully to health, repairing any damaged organs and bringing my immune system into full functioning order.
I rededicate my temple to you, Holy Father, and ask that Your Name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, will dwell within it, and I invite the (Holy Spirit) to take up occupance wherever demons have previously resided. I invite the Holy Breath into my nose, and mouth, and throat, and lungs, to purify me completely. I invite the Holy Breath to enter my blood and purify my whole bodily system so that it is completely and utterly dedicated to You, Father God. I also call on the love of the Lord to meet me completely and fill me with His love into my being and let me know from the heart how much you love me and have forgiven me. And I ask Your Son, (Jesus), to restore me to a right mind and to purify my emotions, so that I may think and feel as He wishes me to feel – please break all the programming of false pathways of peace, all lies in my system so that from henceforth I am governed only by Truth.
I covenant in the Name of (Jesus) and before these witnesses [get two witnesses to your prayer] that I will never purchase tobacco or smoke again, or profane Your holy temple, or blaspheme the Name of the Most High. Amen.
